If you are vacationing in Oaxaca or you are here because of personal or working reasons, alone, with your family, friends, or with your other half, let us tell you where you can go in the city to spend a lovely valentine´s day.
Are you more like a morning person and would like to pamper yourself or your loved ones with a delicious breakfast? We recommend you to visit “Boulenc” a restaurant that is characterized by its artesian bread, unique architecture, and its different tasty breakfast and brunch dishes. A must-visit.
Secondly, we have this restaurant whose name could not fit better with this festivity; “Los Amantes” or “The Lovers” is a place located in the heart of the city where you can savor delicious traditional food while you enjoy the gorgeous view it offers, additionally if you would like to taste our famous drink “the mezcal”, right in front of this one you will see its second terrace which is more focused on “mezcalogía”. Either day or night, do not think it twice and get lost in the unique atmosphere “Los Amantes” offers you.
However, if you just would like to go for a walk, admire the architecture of the streets, and take some pictures, one option is the tourist walkway, where you can find during these days pretty heart shape frames next to the Santo Domingo church. Our second and favorite one, is the walking tour by Xicoténcatl street, starting by Guerrero street until Pino Suárez, the reason? You will find on your way the stunning yellow flower trees named guayacan that embellish our city. Do not miss the opportunity and take lovely souvenir pictures.
Sunny and warm days are here, so a perfect date can be tasting traditional ice cream in one of the different stands placed in the Socrates garden, right next to the Soledad church, it is a very calm and fresh place to have a pleasant chat.
A perfect day to admire the art of Oaxaca in one of its various museums, here are some you can visit and that we are pretty sure you will fall in love with; Museo de las Culturas de Oaxaca, which is a cultural center with archeological objects and antique books which date from the XVII century. Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Oaxaca is located in a house of the XVIII century with permanent and rotating expositions of Mexican contemporary art. The Museo de Arte Prehispánico was created by the famous painter Rufino Tamayo, it has pieces that date from 3 different periods; prehispanic, viceroyalty, and modern. And the Museo de Filatelia, if you like writing and receiving letters, this museum will amaze you, you will find collections of stamps and letters, for example, there is the “penny black”, the first stamp in the world and also letters of the painters Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera.
These are only some of the numerous places you can visit in Oaxaca, the possibilities are endless. Wherever you go, we hope you have a blast and collect memorable moments this February 14th.
